
Beauly Priory was founded around 1230 by monks of the Valliscaulian order. After their successors had lived in the abbey for about 300 years, it eventually fell into ruins as a result of the Protestant Reformation of 1560. Today it is one of the main visitor attractions in the Inverness area.
